Interesting piece. As a woman though I've got to say that I'm never bothered about violence in films towards women because it's just a sad fact of life that filmmakers pick up on and express. Sadly, most violence is directed at women and men do slap and smack them and call them crap like "silly little fool" when they get "too emotional."
But like Irene, I would never put up with that stuff. If a guy put me over his knee and spanked me I'd hurt him badly or kick his ass out the door.
With that being said, it's probably all levels of wrong that I think that pic of Elvis is kind of sexy. Ha!
Just a note, this is not Darlene Tompkins that was spanked in the movie. Ms. Tompkins played "Pasty" not "Elly" - who is the character getting spanked.

Reminds me of Ricky spanking his beloved Lucy on I Love Lucy. I wince every time I see such a scene in reruns of the show.
