The instigating blog posted a bunch of rules to follow, but I zoned out while reading them.
That line is worth the price of admission alone. I believe I am now the only blogger left standing who has not done this despite five or six tags at this point. For whatever reason, I just can't bring myself to do it but I like your list enough to just lie and say I did it in conjunction with you.
Jeez, at least you got tagged. Of the dozens of film blogs out there, no one tagged yours truly. Consider my ego bruised!
Hey, your the second quote on the Siren's sidebar. I'd pay money for that spot and I've tried, but the Siren keeps telling me it's not enough.
That would be "you're" not "your."
See, that's why I'm not on the sidebar.
Screw the rules! Some of the Jesus Franco films I listed have multiple titles, to which I say, "Come and get me, copper!"
I hope the films with multiple viewings do not include Xanadu unless mass quantities of drugs, drink or promises of otherwise forbidden sex were involved.
To be fair, I hated Xanadu until I saw it with a lively crowd at b-fest, after that I kinda love it. Most of its songs are horrible earworms. And it's nice to see Monkey Business get a mention, I love that movie. Guess I'll play along if only to keep the blog updated quarterly at least.
Jonathan, not only am I second on Siren's sidebar, but I'm also ABOVE James Wolcott...Badda-Bing!
Peter & Jessica, there's an aura so intensely Early Eighties about Xanadu that it holds me spellbound. I've seen it three times, straight, sober and with no prospects of a hot time in the sack.
Masochism takes many forms...
I see your masochism and raise it while, in the same instant, dovetailing back into the Alphabet meme (whose rules mine eyes also revolted against).
Not only did I start the damned thing today, I'm actually going to do it as an ongoing project, concentrated solely on America's so-called Avant-garde/Independent/Underground/Experimental/You-name-it cinema (basically, anything that didn't get financed, produced and released by a major or minor studio), where I have to write something (anything) about each one (I freely admit this is because I am otherwise bereft of ideas).
All of which means this could conceivably go on for years.
How's that for masochism!
Ouch!! You're a far braver man than I, Tom.
The love that we came to know... I'm pretty sure they call that Xanadu.
Flickhead, I was all set to tag you, but then I afterthought that the format wouldn't be your thing -- too restrictive and all.
Next time, I'll tag you with an aside to say you can always refuse if the meme doesn't flip your switch.
For someone who zoned out reading the rules, this sure is a great list, and no cheating. :)
Thanks, Siren!
Meryl Streep looks uber-uber-hot in that Devil Wears Prada photo. Guess I'm getting old.
Me too!
