Makes the girls swoon every time.
And I love that I opened your blog and was greeted by Shannyn Sossamon.
I actually sat through Catacombs for Shannyn.
Ain't that pathetic?
I sat through the unintentionally hilarious and crazy Devour, though that was more b/c my fiancée loves that Jensen Ackles guy; Shannyn was what made it bearable for me, that and the utter ridiculousness when it goes off the rails in the final act.
That puppy just flew to the top of my queue -- thanx!
Hah, nice. Just as long as you don't expect anything, you know, actually good. Beyond Shannyn's hotness, that is.
On the other hand, she was really good in Rules of Attraction, an actual good movie.
Devour sounds just about my speed...
I initially avoided Rules of Attraction because of Ellis -- and I think the film had connections to Pulp Fiction (producer?) that made me squirm -- some of the elements of 90s American mainstream which drained so much of my enthusiasm for the cinema. (Sorry, but I seem to be hopelessly old school.) But Rules is now on the queue.
Well, if you don't like Ellis, and don't like Pulp Fiction, it's hard to imagine you'll like Rules. The director is Roger Avary, who collaborated with Tarantino on the script to Pulp Fiction, so that's the connection there. It's definitely very 90s mainstream cinema, very self-conscious and ironic and hyper, so I guess chances are good you won't like it much. Personally, I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, but it's darkly funny and clever, a pretty solid riff on the college comedy genre. Avary got uniformly admirable performances out of a cast composed mostly of hip young TV actors and teen comedy stars. And I dig the film's everything-and-the-kitchen-sink aesthetics.
And, hey, I hear Shannyn Sossamon's in it. Heh.
