Laying out here on my deck, soaking up the rays, a gentle breeze carrying away the sweaty toxins, an afternoon of pleasure, not thinking I should be somewhere or someone else. Then this song momentarily transports me back several years and several hundred miles away to when I’d roam the streets and parks in and around Manhattan, a lonely young man searching for a connection, preferably with a woman, to share the time and sun and desire to be something more than zero. If there’s one positive thing to come from that forlorn period (oh, how those weekends ached!), it’s the gratitude I now have for no longer being in that mindset and the ability to find comfort in the here and now.
