The late Pequa Theatre, once located in Massapequa, New York. The last film I saw there was Full Metal Jacket in first run. Throughout the 70s I saw a lot of horror matinees (Countess Dracula, Mad Doctor of Blood Island) and the occasional midnight show (Invasion of the Blood Farmers), but also some swell prime-time fare (Kelly’s Heroes, The Sicilian Clan). Its outer design was pure 50s Populuxe; inside there was a ‘Smoking Loge.’ About twenty years ago the structure was razed to make room for a car dealership. Click image to enlarge.

The last film I saw at the Pequa theatre was Play Misty for Me—directed by and starring Clint Eastwood and also starring Jessica Walter. Good Movie...scary!
Wow. Who would have taken this photograph.. and why??

Why not? I'd love to have pics of the old drive-in along the Ohio River that we lost in the late '60s, after the river rose too high and washed it away! They used to run horror and sci-fi flicks every Saturday night, sometimes as many as five movies from dusk to dawn, with free coffee and donuts after the fourth feature. A night like that at $2 a car, for a marathon of AIP? My definition of heaven!
